As I work full time in a school, I have limited availability but I try and visit as many schools as I can. I have worked in a number of schools across Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City, Derbyshire and Derby City, Birmingham, Bedfordshire and Dorset. During the Covid-19 lock-downs I took the opportunity to extend my offer, delivering virtual school visits including to Raffles American School in Malaysia. I have also delivered a range of workshops for a number of literary festivals and events including the Newark Book Festival, Lowdham Book Festival, Nottingham LGBTQ Literary Festival (with Waterstones and Bold Strokes), Nottingham Pride and the Radical Book Festival.
Workshops and Assemblies have been delivered to a wide range of groups from Reception to Year 6. Activities have include re-telling my stories, question and answer sessions, story-writing workshops and creative art workshops (including snail making).
Workshops for adults have looked at the theory behind using picture books to teach about diversity issues.
